Description
The device is designed for simultaneous measurement and indication
of temperature at several different points of the observed environment
or item. It is equipped with an illuminated display continuously
showing the value of the measured temperatures in Centigrade with
accuracy up to 0,1.
The system consists of the following components:
• Measurement module with LCD
• Temperature measurement probe with one or more sensors
• Power and communication module or radio receiving module
• Communication cable
• Personal computer software
Measurement probe
The temperature sensors are configured in the measurement probes,
which are positioned within the selected environment or attached
to/inside the monitored item. The number of sensors for each probe
varies between 1 and 48, and the distance between the sensors is
determined by the client, where the maximu length of each probe
is 60 m. Thus one device may be used to measure the temperature
in several different devices, distanced from each other.
The probe is a 6mm-thick cable with an encapsulated sensor at the
end. There are two versions for air environment and in the form
of an awl with a handle to be driven into the material within the
chamber. The awl length is determined by the client.
Computer connection
The measurement module is designed to provide connection with a
personal computer by cable or by radio channel.
If the item permits the use of a cable from the computer to the
measurement module, mounted next to the drying chamber, a standard
UTP cable for computer networks is used. A communication module,
ensuring power and connection with the measurement module, is mounted
to the computer. The length of the cable may be up to 1000 m. The
communications are in both directions and a miminum or a maximum
temperature limit may be set from the computer. The same limits
may be set from a simplified keyboard on the front panel.

If the cable is hard to be laid or if that is impossible,
there should be established a one-way connection with the computer
by the radio channel. The measurement module is produced with
a radio transmitter and the serial computer port is equipped
with a radio receiver, powered by an external adapter of 9V.
If the measurement module is powered by an adapter, the data
is shown simultaneously on its display and on the remote computer's
monitor. The distance to the computer may be up to 80 m if it
is in the line of sight or up to 30 m if there are two concrete
walls. |
So as to establish radio connection, the company will perform the
preliminary inspection and test of the site.
Software
Software application for Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP was developed to
ensure the receiving of data from the measurement module, their visualization
and the generation of a protocol for the drying process.
The programme is designed to work continuously and does not need any
attending staff. The operator fills in the initial data for the material
in the chamber and sets the time of the drying process. The programme
accepts the data from all sensors every second and records such data
at the set time intervals. After the set period expires, the record
is automatically terminated, while the visualization on the screen
continues. If the operator sets a maximum upper and a minimum lower
temperature limit, the outgoing protocol records the cases when such
limits have been exceeded.

One measurement module may be used simultaneously to monitor 2 drying
chamber with 4 temperature probes in each of them. The operator may
set the indications to be included in the outgoing protocol.

The graph may be switched to a 2- or 3-dimensional mode to facilitate
the monitoring process.
Outgoing protocol

The programme feeds the received data into a standard Excel format
table or into a custom-made template of the client, sent by e-mail
in advance.
