Description
The BS-HC3 controller has been designed for control operation of various heating apparatus, including electrode boilers for local steam heating. It can be used for different thermal processes, with heating up to +100°C.
The BS-HC3 controller with LCD display continuously shows the measured temperatures (by 1, 2 or 3 sensors). Animated arrows indicate the direction of the temperature variation. There are also provided suitable buttons for easy and flexible access to all settings, without necessity of additional tools. Incorrect data input for temperature limits is forbidden.
The operating condition of the pump and heater is visible in distance, due to the front panel sensors (green for the pump, red for the heater contactor). There is a terminal strip connection to an outer ON/OFF switch (for control allowed / not allowed) with constant temperatures measuring and display indication. This input can be used to connect the controller with programmable weekly timers, contact thermometers with normally closed contact, etc.
The BS-HC3 controller automatically identifies the connected temperature sensors t1, t2 and t3. The power authorities will not activate if the said sensors are not connected to the terminals. The controller shall operate in the following configurations depending on the positions of the sensor connection:
Configuration with one sensor
The system shall operate with this minimum configuration if sensor t1 is connected to terminals 10, 11 and 12. Sensor t1 measures the temperature at the outlet of the boiler.

• Economic operation of the heater is not guaranteed
• Many changes of the temperature limits are needed to obtain the optimal mode
• Precise maintenance of the room temperature is not guaranteed
Configuration with two sensors for the boiler inlet and outlet
The system should operate with two sensors for reliable and economic control of the boiler. Sensor t1 is connected to terminals 10, 11, 12 and measures the temperature at the outlet of the boiler. Sensor t2 is connected to terminals 13, 14, 15 and measures the temperature at the inlet of the boiler.

• Several changes of the temperature limits are needed to obtain the optimal mode
• The optimal mode can be reached by multiple changes of the temperature limits
• Precise maintenance of the room temperature is not guaranteed
Configuration with three sensors for the boiler inlet, outlet, and in room
For reliable, economic and precise control of a protracted boiler, the all three sensors should be connected to the controller: t1, t2 and t3 – the last is a room temperature sensor which is connected to terminals 16, 17, 18.

• Only few trials are needed to obtain the optimal mode

Configuration with two sensors – for the the boiler outlet and in room
The system can operate only with sensors t1 and t3 for more economic operation. In this case the room temperature shall be precisely maintained, but it is not guaranteed the optimal operating mode and the efficient power consumption.
